Affordable and historical Hotel Born is situated right in the heart of Palma’s OldTown. Originally the 16th century palace of the Marquis of Ferrandell, it was restored in the 18th century to feature a typical Mallorcan interior patio. This attractive patio, dotted with huge palm trees and tables and chairs, is now the centre piece of Born and its 35 rooms.
The hotel has been modernized but still feels as though it’s from a bygone age. The entrance hall echoes the building’s original grandeur as pillared arched ceilings, gleaming marble and a sweeping staircase leads up to the hotel’s four floors. With such an entrance, guests may forget this is a two star budget hotel. However it is a budget hotel, so despite the setting and the traditional dark wood antiques, the en-suite rooms are simple and clean, with basic beds and furnishings. The best rooms in the hotel have large French windows looking out onto tall palm trees and the pretty patio below.
Hotel Born is a welcoming place to stay and boasts an enviable central location. Set down a quiet street, close to Palma’s sights, restaurants and shops, it’s an ideal base from which to explore the city. The impressive cathedral and stretching seafront are just a walk away. Whilst the main shopping streets of Palma are metres away, so what you save on accommodation can be spent in Camper, Zara and Loewe!
