Centuries old Son Viscos is a welcoming, intimate and characterful estate on the edge of Valldemossa with bags of style and stunning views. With a successful career in antique furniture behind them, the owners have transformed their once family home into a unique and peaceful retreat. Large whitewashed rooms are dotted with elegant antiques and country style pieces, blending perfectly with the house’s historical origins.

There is a real sense of space at Son Viscos with far reaching mountain views and extensive picturesque gardens, complete with two former Moorish mills, fruit and bamboo groves and even a mountain stream. Comfortable loungers have been carefully positioned around the grounds so guests can make the most of the beautiful surrounds.

One of the best spots is the main terrace with views across the valley to the monastery at Valldemossa. This is where a generous breakfast is enjoyed. Using an array of local produce; fresh breads, pastries, local cheeses, fruits and yogurts, are laid out in the house’s welcoming rustic kitchen so guests can choose breakfast in a relaxed manner. There is also a stylish large living room in the main house made homely with the owners’ unique mix of sofas, antiques and throws.

For those who wish to explore, the house’s own estate is a real marvel and there are many great walks from the property itself, including the famous walk carved out by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria centuries ago that takes in some of the best views on the island. Hosts, Michael and Maria are also on hand to suggest hiking routes, scenic drives and the best places to eat in the surrounding area.

A stylish b&b in Valldemossa. Michael provided great hospitality and lots of local information to help make the most of the local area. Valldemossa is an attractive old town and even nicer later in the afternoon and evening when the visitors have gone.
